CHI St. Vincent Heart Clinic Arkansas in Hot Springs is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic cardiology team. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to provide comprehensive cardiovascular care in an outpatient clinic setting, with integrated responsibilities for inpatient diagnostics. The NP will work collaboratively with cardiologists, advanced practice providers, and support staff to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
General Responsibilities:
- Patient-Centered Care: Provide direct patient care, including comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, treatment planning, and management of various cardiovascular conditions.
- Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate effectively with cardiologists, referring physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
- Documentation & Records: Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough electronic medical records (EMR) for all patient encounters, including assessments, plans of care, medications, and orders.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about their cardiac conditions, treatment plans, medication management, lifestyle modifications, and risk factors.
- Clinical Excellence: Adhere to evidence-based practice guidelines, established protocols, and professional standards of care.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and clinic efficiency.
- Professional Development: Maintain current licensure, certification, and continuing education requirements. Stay abreast of new developments in cardiovascular medicine.
- Teamwork: Contribute to a positive and supportive work environment, fostering teamwork and collegiality among all staff.
- Adherence to Policies: Comply with all CHI St. Vincent policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Specific Clinical Responsibilities within the Heart Clinic:
- Outpatient Clinic Management:
- Conduct comprehensive history and physical examinations for new and established cardiology patients.
- Formulate diagnoses and develop individualized treatment plans for a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, including but not limited to: coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, hypertension, dyslipidemia, valvular heart disease, and peripheral artery disease.
- Prescribe medications, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and manage patient care in collaboration with supervising physicians.
- Provide acute and chronic disease management, including medication adjustments, symptom management, and disease progression monitoring.
- Perform follow-up visits, medication reconciliations, and address patient concerns.
- Facilitate referrals to other specialists as needed.
- Diagnostic Testing Coordination & Oversight:
- Order Testing at Hospital: Independently order a variety of cardiovascular diagnostic tests to be performed at the hospital
- Complete Nuclear Studies at Hospital: Assist with and/or independently oversee the completion of nuclear stress tests conducted at the hospital, ensuring proper patient preparation, monitoring, and post-procedure care. This includes understanding and interpreting the results in collaboration with the supervising physician.
- Outpatient Stress Tests: Independently perform and/or supervise outpatient stress tests (treadmill, pharmacological), including patient preparation, monitoring, interpretation of results, and generation of reports.
- Inpatient Stress Tests: Independently perform and/or supervise inpatient stress tests for appropriate hospitalized patients, coordinating with hospital staff for smooth execution and timely reporting.
