Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Physician Assistant, Intensivist-Hospitalist at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary, you will contribute to the fulfillment of our Mission and Vision and strategic initiatives by providing medical care to patients under the direction of a supervising Hospital Based Medicine physician.

Every day, you will provide a comprehensive assessment and examination of the patient's medical, physical, and psychological status. You will develop medical care plans, implement and manage a treatment plan, periodically assess the patient's medical needs, and provide patient education and counseling. This involves meticulous clinical assessment, critical decision-making in high-acuity settings, and compassionate patient and family engagement to ensure holistic and effective care for hospitalized patients.

To be successful in your role, you will strategically contribute to the fulfillment of our mission and vision by providing comprehensive medical care to patients under the direction of a supervising Hospital Based Medicine physician. You will demonstrate exceptional clinical expertise in assessing patient status, developing and managing care plans, and providing patient education, thereby ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care and supporting the strategic initiatives of the organization.

  • Transfer service - Management of transfer calls, triage of critical care needs, check/confirm availability of critical care services and communicate with the appropriate critical care teams regarding the best care for patients on arrival.
  • Admission - Upon arrival, serve as the primary admitters for all patients, including critical care. (*with the exception of CVICU) See patients upon arrival, initiate care for all patients, including critical care, from our Emergency Department or transferred from an outside hospital.
  • Inpatient care - In addition to new patients, our APP team provides coverage on all patients, including ICU, and are present at bedside for any decompensation or patient issues. Depending on the shift, they are in house overnight to cover all patients. They offer excellent healthcare services to critically ill patients to ensure that they are stable and recovering. They provide triage for floor inpatients that have had a change in status necessitating a higher level of care, such as transfer to ICU. They provide critical care during the crucial time from acute decompensation to unit transfer and facilitate the required work for this continued care.
  • Facilitate ongoing communication and collaboration with the health care team to ensure optimal care while in the hospital and upon discharge.

Job Requirements

 

  • Current PA licensure in Arkansas
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire 
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support, upon hire
