CHI St. Alexius Health is a Level II Trauma Center and is the largest health care delivery system in central and western North Dakota that is comprised of a tertiary hospital in Bismarck and critical access hospitals (CAHs) in Carrington, Dickinson, Devils Lake, Garrison, Turtle Lake, Washburn and Williston and numerous clinics and outpatient services. In addition, CHI St. Alexius Health manages five CAHs in North Dakota- Ashley, Elgin, Linton, and Wishek, as well as Mobridge Regional Medical Center in Mobridge, SD.   CHI St. Alexius Health – Bismarck, is a 185-bed, full-service, acute care medical center offering a full line of inpatient and outpatient medical services, including primary and specialty physician clinics; home health and hospice services; durable medical equipment services and a fitness and human performance center. Job Summary and Responsibilities

 

As our Family or Internal Medicine Hospitalist, you will join a well-established hospital-employed group at CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismarck, ND. This exceptional opportunity allows you to provide comprehensive patient care as a regional healthcare leader, specializing in diagnosing and treating paitients making a significant impact on their lives and families. Every day you will provide compassionate and expert care, conducting thorough assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support the holistic well-being of patients and their families.

As our Hospitalists, you will focus on high-quality inpatient care for adults, taking advantage of a supportive environment that includes NO Peds or Trauma cases, and dedicated Rapid Response Team for codes. You will benefit from a reasonable census and closed ICUs staffed by Intensivists, allowing you to concentrate on patient management without after-hours call. This role offers an attractive 7 on / 7 off shifts (Tuesday to Monday, 7am - 7pm), promoting a healthy work-life balance while ensuring consistent, dedicated care for our patients.

  • Day shift - 161 Shifts Annually
  • Dedicated admitting shift coverage
  • No night shifts: supported by Nocturnists
  • Team: 14 Physicians and 5 APPs
  • Average daily census for attending physician/APP team: 15-17 patients
  • Ability to mentor medical students, FM residents, and Hospital Medicine Fellows
  • We qualify for Public Service Loan Forgiveness
  • Can support H1B sponsorship only
  • Diagnosing, treating, and prescribing for a diverse adult inpatient population.
  • Ordering and interpreting necessary diagnostic tests to accurately assess patient conditions.
  • Developing and managing comprehensive discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
  • Collaborating effectively with specialists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Maintaining accurate and thorough medical records using the hospital's EMR system, Epic.
  • Adhering to all hospital policies, procedures, and patient safety protocols.
  • Providing compassionate care and clear communication to patients and their families regarding their health status and treatment plans.
  • Continuously staying abreast of the latest developments in family or internal medicine and hospitalist care.

Job Requirements

  • American Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family or Internal Medicine
  • Completion of an accredited Residency Program
  • Board certified/board eligible in Family or Internal Medicine
  • Valid North Dakota medical license or eligibility for medical licensure in the State of North Dakota
  • North Dakota DEA registration or eligibility to obtain
  • ALS, BLS certification
